Ikue and Connor | Rucker Place | Birmingham Wedding Video

Through the Japanese language, Ikue and Connor fell in love. Listen to their love story woven in throughout their wedding film.  Connor, a native of Birmingham, chose to have one of their weddings here in Alabama, with the other wedding a couple of weeks later in Tokyo.  (Too bad we couldn't go too - only the video.) Their story is a sweet one that Chris did a really great job of capturing!

Kelli & Robert | The Club | Birmingham Wedding Video

Sunny yellow flowers everywhere that perfectly matched Kelli's sunny disposition.  That is what stands out most about this wedding.  Kelli had assembled a great team of vendors which always makes the day easier, smoother, and really better.  Anita Kanellis of AK Brides was the planner, David Shirk of Unplugged Photography (and Ari) were doing their thing that they do so well, Coats Classic Cars was on site, Design Productions made it all lovely, Heidi Elnora designed Kelli's perfect wedding gown, and The Club's service at the wedding reception was exceptional. Watch Kelli and Robert's highlight video to see the fun!

Fun! Fun!

Liz & Nick | Autumn Ridge| Wedding Highlights

One of Birmingham's best hidden gems is a place in Chelsea called Autumn Ridge.  It is a beautiful home that serves as a fantastic place for a wedding.  The ceremony area overlooks a massive open sky that is instantly calming.  Check out more details from this new venue by watching Liz & Nick (and Luke's) wedding highlights.

Liz and Nick | Autumn Ridge, a beautiful outdoor venue

Some families you just fall in love with immediately.  Actually most of our families, I fall in love with very quickly, thus the reason that we do too many weddings per year.  Regardless, when I met with Liz and her mom and talked about the upcoming wedding, I knew it was one that we wanted to be a part of.  There is just something about them.

And it couldn't have been a more perfect wedding day out at Autumn Ridge in Chelsea, AL.  Under the direction of Becky's Brides, the outdoor ceremony on top of Shelby County's most beautiful mountains was heaven-sent.  The reception was a great mixture of friends and family gathering in the main house and dancing the night away out in the tent on the property.

We had a great time (as always) working beside David Shirk with Unplugged Photography (his amazing images can be found here).  And don't worry, David, I have recovered from having to jump on the golf cart while you were driving off without me!

Oh no he di'int...

When I came across this photo, I couldn't believe what I was seeing!  This was not our wedding so I don't know all of the details.  (A special thanks to Jennifer Woodbury for letting me use the photo for learning purposes.)

It appears that the gentleman holding the tripod in front of the bride and groom is a friend of the family. He might have even volunteered to film the wedding ceremony for the couple.  How great, right!  It saves lots of money and gives him a job.  I get that.  I don't agree, but I get it.  But obviously we have an issue.  A professional videographer would NEVER, EVER be so obtrusive.

This photo actually makes me a little irritated because so often brides tell us that the reason that they don't want video is because they don't want a camera in their face all day.  We don't work that way.  We try to be as unobtrusive as we possibly can.  A professional would know how to get the shots without being in the way.  Professionals are also held to a higher standard.  Churches place restrictions on us so that this doesn't happen (not that we would ever do this); they can't control what guests do.  Thus the reason that we have this example of a bad situation.

Not only did he ruin the photographer's shot, but what did they guests see during this pivotal moment of the ceremony vows?  So you save a little money, but yet it costs you in other ways.

I want to use this photo to help brides understand that it doesn't have to be this way.  There are ways to get an amazing shot without being in the way.  A professional videographer will be able to do this without you noticing that they are even around.  This is what it looks like when you hire a professional videographer.  This photo of the wedding ceremony came from David Shirk with Unplugged Photography.  Do you see our cameras?  We actually had 4. I don't even see one of ours.

My advice would just be to let your friends and family enjoy your wedding day and hire a professional videographer.  In almost 10 years of business, we have NEVER had someone regret having a video, only not having one.  Your wedding day will go by so fast (everyone says this because it is true); a professional wedding video will be something that you will treasure for years.

Amy & Derrick | Ross Bridge

Amy and Derrick had a beautiful wedding day filled with Chinese tradition.  So much thought went into the planning of her day.  Of course she had the always talented Anita Kanellis of AK Brides to help but Amy had her own vision to bring to the wedding as well.

Together with David Shirk of Unplugged Photography we had fun documented the day for this wonderful couple.  Between 4 (yes, I said 4!!!) dress changes and family games throughout the day, we had our work cut out for us.  The staff at Ross Bridge was very accommodating, even in the sweltering heat!

Shannon Pardo of Sweet Spot Confections made a gorgeous bride's cake that was as delicious as it was beautiful. Just check out this photo!  Thanks David for the use! And to Carol Riley with Lillie's Flowers for the beautiful flowers!

Morgan & Jeremy: St Mark United Methodist Church/B & A Warehouse
Morgan and Jeremy had a beautiful ceremony at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Vestavia.  And let me tell you, Morgan looked beautiful!  I absolutely loved her dress!!!! Their reception was held downtown at B & A Warehouse, where their many guests all had a wonderful time mingling and listening to the band.  Joe Breckenridge and his band was not our "typical" band that we have seen recently - he was a little more bluegrass, but he had a nice mix of blues and traditional music.  It kept everyone dancing!  Here is a link to some of the fun footage that we captured during one of the songs.  This groomsmen was quite a dancer!!!
