Featured on Ruffled: Southern Charm meets Modern Glam

It is always exciting to see a wedding that we worked on be featured on a national blog.  And why wouldn't it be featured - everything was gorgeous!

You can read all about the wedding - from the beautiful flowers to a pretty awesome instagram video - on the post from Ruffled.

Don't tell anyone but Fall weddings are my favorite... I love the colors, the weather, soup and jackets!  Or sometimes in Alabama, we might still be wearing shorts...that's ok too.

Giving Back: Alzheimer's Research Foundation

Not only is it the mission of the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation to find a cure for this horrible disease, but they also want to improve the patient's quality of life.  I really appreciated all of the articles for the caregivers.  I can only imagine how hard it is to love someone who doesn't know you anymore.  Understanding the causes of Alzheimers is the core of the foundation's research.  To donate, click here

Giving Back: All Things New

We've all seen the commercials to help children in other countries. It's heartbreaking no matter how you look at it.  With the All Things New charity, (from what I can tell) it is just a husband and wife team trying to help a country that they have grown to love.  They have a small orphanage where needs are great.  On the organization's website, I found a few facts about Haiti that you can read below.  Staggering...  If you are considering donating, here is the direct link.

  • Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere with 78% of the population living on less than $2/day.

    • The average annual household income is $400 (compared to $42,693 in America).

    • There is no free public education in Haiti thus the literacy rate is estimated at 50%.

    • Estimates suggest that there are 750,000 orphans in Haiti

    • Over 7% of children die at birth - 10% of children die before age 5.

Giving Back: Make a Wish Foundation

It's hard to see a sick child and not want to help.  I guess that is the reason (and we have really great brides) that we had several couples chose the Make a Wish Foundation as their charity. Being a national organization, they have helped make wishes come true for countless children and their families since 1980 - technically they grant a wish every 35 minutes.  Wow!  If you can't give your time or money, how about your airline miles?  Most wishes involve travel so that makes sense.  I loved learning more about this much needed organization.

Giving Back: Adopt a Golden

So when we ask our brides which charity they want us to donate to, we tell them it can be anything - from cancer research to feeding the homeless.  Today's bride chose the Adopt a Golden program.  She said, "I just have to make donations to keep myself from adopting! :)" We can all relate, right???

There are plenty of volunteer opporunities through the Birmingham chapter.  But in case you just give a little money for the cause, here is the direct link.

Giving Back: Susan G. Komen

With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer, Susan G. Komen Foundation has made it their mission to raise money and awareness to the cause. There are many ways to get involved.  Or to donate, you can go to http://www.komen.org/donate. We were honored that a couple of our brides chose this charity.
