Elizabeth and Kyle | The Club

After a beautiful wedding ceremony at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, Elizabeth and Kyle headed to one of our favorite reception venues.  The Club, while overlooking the city of Birmingham, always is the perfect choice for brides!  It's gorgeous!  And this wedding was no exception.

#GivingTuesday - Jennifer Gowers

I think she might be the hardest working person in the entire event industry.  She (and her team, as she will quickly point out) manage multiple venues while being a huge advocate of Birmingham.  It is not uncommon for Jennifer Gowers of GoPro Event Solutions to go home at 2 in the early morning and be back at it by 6:00 a.m.

In between all of that, Jennifer is constantly volunteering her services for a wide range of missions.  From finding homes for dogs (including serving with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society) to helping with the homeless in Birmingham (working with the Jimmie Hale Mission and countless others), she works tirelessly 7 days a week.

She is the current board chair for Pathways, which is a Birmingham organization that serves homeless woman and children. Not only do the people at Pathways give these women a place to live, but also teach them life skills so they can transition into other housing. It really is a one of a kind organization.

Remember how the purpose of this blog series was about #GivingTuesday being #GivingEveryday?  Well, she is a wonderful example of that.  Hats off to you, lady!

Reason No. 587 to hire a wedding filmmaker

I talk to a lot of brides; sometimes they hire us, sometimes they don't.  And when they don't, that is ok.  I just want them to hire a some professional for their wedding.  Most of the time, brides will say something about wanting to have their wedding ceremony preserved for the future. I think that is easy for couples to comprehend that they want.  But often times, what they don't understand (until after the wedding) is all of the other moments that happen throughout the day. That is why we only provide full day coverage.

For instance, at Ginna and Ty's wedding reception, the father of the bride gets on stage with the band, grabs the microphone and proceeds to serenade his bride of over 25 years.  So there you have it - the bride, the father of the bride and now the mom of the bride (who happens to be fighting cancer) are all on the stage.  Below you will just have a 15 sec glimpse of such a priceless moment captured on video.  So yes, we will film your ceremony, but also so much more.  Do you see those tears coming down mom's face?  #Photosdontdoitjustice

Ginna and Ty | Mountain Brook Country Club

Ginna is one of those people that you can see across the room and instantly know that you are going to love her.  She has a smile that can light up any darkness!  We were so honored when she and Ty chose Main Street to be a part of their wedding.  From the lovely flowers by Lillie Jane to dancing the night away with wedding band Az-Izz, the day was flawless.  That might have also had something to do with wedding planner, Anita Kanellis. Watch the video and see Ginna's dad serenading his bride on stage with the band.  I'm so glad that we were there to capture that PRICELESS moment.

Wedding Wire Couples' Choice 2016

Back in 2012, we were awarded our first ever Couples' Choice award from Wedding Wire.  I didn't know much about it at that point.  I definitely didn't understand what a huge honor it was.  For those of you that don't know what it is, the Couples' Choice is given to the top 5% of a wedding category (wedding videographers for us)! And it is all because of people saying nice things about us.  How cool is that!!!!  I really kind of thought that it was given to us just because I was an advertiser.  ha!

Along the way, we stopped paying for advertising, but yet we were still being awarded this badge.  It was then that I really started to notice what was going on.  One day I starting reading all of the reviews that had been left for us.  Oh my word, we have some of the best families.  Some reviews were written a couple of years after the wedding took place.  For instance, Lauren, who lost her dad before her 2nd anniversary.  Her video took on a different meaning afterwards.   She writes:

"I am so lucky to have hired you for our after-rehearsal dinner and wedding, because the video itself is beautiful, but even more so now. You captured 2 toasts from him, our father-daughter dance, and his laughter! My Daddy had an infectious, joyful, booming laugh, and I have missed it with all my heart.

Along with my Daddy, the video also had moments with my Grandmother, a dear friend, and my husband's cousin who have also gone to Heaven. When I hired you, I did not consider that you would give us moments of happiness and LIFE with people we would later lose. But as time passes, that is a part of life. Thank goodness we found you in our wedding planning madness. Thank you for what you do, and the unanticipated gift you have given to us, to me years later."

Now we are in our 5th consecutive year for this award.  It means more now than ever before. Thank you to everyone!  We are honored that you have chosen us for your wedding day.

Jordan and John | Bride's Family Home

After bonding over the love of golf, Jordan and John were married this summer at Sylacauga, Alabama at the First Baptist Church with the reception held at the bride's parents' house. Their wedding day was filled with emotion, excitement and cute golfing-related details!  Thanks to John and Amanda for doing such a great job on this video!
