Burying the Bourbon | A Southern Tradition
Rachel and Scott

Rachel and Scott

Occasionally I see posts from our brides and grooms where they have a shovel in one hand and a bottle of bourbon in the other.  They are carrying on the Southern tradition in the hopes to have perfect weather for their wedding day.  There are a few guidelines that you are supposed to follow.

  • Bury an unopened bottle of bourbon (upside down) exactly one month before the wedding day
  • Towards the end of the night dig up the bottle and enjoy it with your guests

I have to say burying it on the site of your wedding venue might reduce your deposit, so don't blame me!  Maybe you can just bury it in your backyard and hope for the best!

Heather Durham Photography had a great post recently on this same topic.  Love her pictures!

So Grandpa buried the unopened bottle of bourbon one month before the wedding, at the exact time of the wedding, at the...

North Carolina Engagement Session Video

Cupcake and Pooky (Stacie and Tyler) wanted their engagement video to be filmed in the mountains of North Carolina. It had become a special place to them over 8 years of them dating.  How could we say no to this gorgeousness!

This video debuted at their rehearsal dinner last Friday night in Atlanta, GA.  Watch and see who the real star was for the day....His name is Oakley.

NBC Nightly News | Gender Reveal Party

One week ago, I received a call from a production guy from NBC's Nightly News.  He had seen our clip from a recent gender reveal party on YouTube.  The couple had used confetti cannons to announce that they were having a boy, (really twin boys).  You can read the blog post here.  Regardless, they wanted to use some of our footage!  Way cool.  Actually not only was the footage used in the story, but even the intro piece also had stills pulled from our video!  It's the little things that excite me so much!

the wolf's out of the bag

In our effort to take over the world...

Wait, that's not right.  In our effort to put together an amazing team of film makers who can rely on each other, learn from each other and collaborate to create fabulous works of art for our brides, we are ready to introduce Sam Armstrong to the Main Street team.  Of course he will be completing the weddings he has already booked as he works with MSP.

[Taken from his resume] Sam is a go-getter and a charmer.  He's talented and gets along well with others.  His "unique" sense of humor fits so well into our culture. So it's time to make it Facebook official.

Thanks, Sam, for proving your worth, especially the Selma project and for a last minute call for a wedding film. I can't wait for the future!

Just like with John, Chris and Bill, you can think of me as his agent. I handle his bookings, social media and the business side and he gets to be the creative!  It really works well for us.  We are better together than we are apart.  #CreativeCollaboration

Jessica and Adrian | The Summit Club | Downtown Birmingham Wedding

Jess and Adrian have a love story that many MSP couples have shared.  They met on Match.com.  After dating for 5 years, it was time to take the plunge to the next step.  They book a Mediterranean cruise for two, where Jessica is sure that Adrian will pop the question and does her best to spoil the surprise.  Thankfully Adrain knows Jessica too well and is able to take her off guard by asking her to marry him!

ast forward many months and the two get married in a Jewish ceremony and wedding reception, held at The Summit club, overlooking downtown Birmingham.  The views from that venue are breathtaking!!

I say it every time, but when you hire a cohesive wedding team, the results are awesome.  Of course this was the case for this wedding too, led by our fearless leader, Anita Kanellis with AK Brides.  Check out the video of their day!

Are you incorporating Pantone's Color of the Year into your wedding?

Every year, wedding designers and stylists anxiously await for Pantone to release their color of the year.  We always see it reflected in weddings whether in bridesmaids dresses, bow ties, or the decor.

For 2015, Marsala has won!  It is described as a "naturally robust and earthy wine...that enriches our minds, bodies, and souls." You had me at wine!  But really it is a beautiful color that we can't wait to see where it lands in our beautiful Southern weddings.

Bride by Design | TLC | Heidi Elnora

We are pretty lucky here in Birmingham to have Heidi Elnora designing dresses for our brides.  They are beautiful and always makes the bride feel beautiful too!  We are celebrating the launch of Heidi's new TV show tomorrow (Friday, March 27 at 8 pm) on TLC.  Bride by Design will be a huge success, partly due to the humble nature of Heidi, but also given the unique "Build-A-Bride" dress concept.  We wish her the best of luck!

This clip was taken from The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda this week.  Take a look!  Heidi's pretty awesome!

The days are always fun, hard and long, but fun. The end result of a styled shoot is why we keep doing them.  It truly is a joint effort - between models and makeup, flowers and decor - they all allow the photographer and videographer to capture the beauty of the shoot.  We are proud that Weddings Unveiled Magazine grabbed this hunting-inspired wedding photo shoot.  And speaking of creative collaboration, it's what Main Street is all about!  A special thanks to John for shooting this one and for Amanda, the rock star, for editing!  They did a fantastic job!
