#GivingTuesday - Discovery Clubs

Here in our little town of Birmingham, we have so many wedding vendors that I have personally seen that give back to their communities when they think no one is watching.  For today’s #GivingTuesday post, I want to introduce you to a talented floral designer and guitar playing extraordinaire, Carol Harris (Lillie Jane’s).  I’m sure Carol, and her family are laughing hysterically at me calling her a guitar playing extraordinaire.  But for years now, she takes that guitar every Tuesday to an inner-city school and along with her mom, sings and encourages young girls.  Carol has commented on the excitement in those girls’ eyes when they see her coming. According to the website, Discovery Clubs are "after-school Bible clubs that offer fun, safe and inspirational activities that help children learn the love of Christ."

One of the really cool things about doing these GivingTuesday posts is that I get to learn about all of the different ways we, as a community, can help.  I didn't know that Discovery Club was a ministry connected to the Jimmie Hale Mission. I thought that the JHM has just to help homeless men and women.  It's pretty neat that they are able to go into the schools and really love on children that might need a little hope in this world.

I sure do love finding wonderful examples of our wedding community giving back even during non-holiday times. Well done, Carol!

Main Street Productions will become Cinepear in early 2016.

Abbie & Neal | Shoal Creek | Wedding Day Highlights | Birmingham Wedding Video

You might remember seeing a previous post about this wedding when I received a beautiful thank you note from Abbie's mom.  Read it here.  So you already know how much I love this family.  It is with much joy that we release their wedding day highlights. Just look at all of that gorgeousness at Shoal Creek Country Club! Thanks to Stacy Richardson Photography and Carol Riley (Lillie Jane's Flowers).

Perfection. That is the only word needed to describe Abbie and Neal's wedding day. Take a look for yourselves. Music provided by Song Freedom.

Abbie + Neal | Shoal Creek | Mother's Loving Words

I just received these kinds words from our mother of the bride from this past weekend. Her daughter, Abbie, was married at the always gorgeous Shoal Creek Country Club.

"Just wanted to send you hugs and kisses and thank you for sharing your weekend with us.  You were so sweet and I love sweet, sweet people.  Can't wait to see what you and your husband captured.  I know it's going to be great.  So glad we were told about yall.  You both were wonderful and so delightful to work with.  You seemed like one of my girls."

Some families stand out more than others.  This family is one of those families.  I LOVED the way the dad looked at his baby girl as a bride.  You could see how proud he was and how much he loved her.  We created a special time for the FOB to see his daughter and it was filled with emotion.  Dad was crying, Abbie was crying, Stacy Richardson (photographer) was crying, I was crying; we were all boo-hooing.  I can't wait to see the footage from this part of the day.

I was so honored to receive this email; I just had to share.  The feeling was mutual.

And now a few quick iPhone photos that I took during the day.

Michael and Heather | The Highlights | American Village

Michael has a smile that makes you want to smile. Beautiful Heather has this way that she looks at her groom.  Their love is just contagious!  It really was a picture perfect day at the American Village.  It wasn't too cold, wasn't too hot, it was just right for a magical wedding.  And Michael gets the award for BEST REACTION EVER TO HIS BRIDE WALKING DOWN THE AISLE!!

I would say that it was an all-star team on their wedding; we were just so happy to be included in with everyone!  It never gets old when a couple chooses us to share in their wedding day. With a romantic ceremony in the chapel and a fun barn reception, it was a day that this couple (and their families) will always treasure.

Enjoy their wedding highlights below!

Betsy & Jonathan | The Sonnet House

It was a beautiful Fall day at The Sonnet House.  Our bride was relaxed and beautiful (Brittany Benton Massey on makeup).  The photographer (Amanda Pair) was wonderful and very good at her job.  The flowers (Lillie's) were breathtaking. Ceremony music was provided by Act of Congress and the reception band (Nationwide Coverage) didn't disappoint.  B & A Warehouse catered the reception and Barb's Cakes made a delicious and beautiful wedding cake. It could not have been a better day!

Here is a link to the photographer's pictures from the wedding.  Enjoy! They are gorgeous!
