Leann + Alex: St. Marks/The Sonnet House

What a picture perfect day - well, kind of!  It definitely kept us on our toes!! From lighting strikes to heat strokes, you really never knew what was going to happen from one moment to the next.  But thankfully the day was under the direction of planner extraordinaire, Beverly Andrews with Engaging Celebrations so I wasn't worried!  And neither was Leann, who was as calm as she could be.  I really think she was having a great time as she should have been.

My favorite memory of the day was right after the bride and groom saw each other for the first time on the side lawn of The Sonnet House.  Together with Jerrod Brown (Photographer), we were capturing this romantic, perfect time.  The groom was about to tell the bride how gorgeous she looked on the grounds of the Sonnet House when Beverly and her wonderful assistant, Catherine, both shout RRRRRUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!  I look over my shoulder and see this huge rain cloud coming right toward us - you could actually see it come across the lawn in a line.  Crazy!  Beverly picks up Leann's silk dress and basically shoves her inside to safety and we all follow!  Nuts! I have a feeling that is one first look that no one will forget!

Other Wedding Professionals:  J Ross with Norton's Flowers, The A-Town A-List (Band), B & A Catering, Dreamcakes, Katie Moon (makeup).  Great wedding!

Maegan + Justin: Highlands UMC/Avon Theatre

What a beautiful couple!  I mean, really, both inside and out.  It kind of makes our job easy!  Maegan and Justin started their day by getting ready at the Hotel Highland, directly across from their wedding ceremony site, Highlands UMC.  There was a lot of excitement between Maegan and ALL of her girls - there might have even been a little jumping on the bed!

The couple truly was surrounded by people that loved them!  What terrific friends!  I loved the jewel tones of the bridesmaid's dresses!  Just beautiful!

The only bad part of the day was it was HOT.  It is June!  But thankfully we, along with David and Ari Shirk with Unplugged Photography found a place in the alley of the hotel that had a nice breeze.  It was great!  And the photos/footage turned out wonderful!

The very lively reception was held at the Avon Theatre, with lots of dancing and the tunes provided by Just a Few Cats!  It was a perfect day!

Insider's Tips: Tip #40 - Dance Floor

Whether you like it or not, you and your groom are responsible for getting people out on the dance floor.  Well, at least partly.  You can have a great band or DJ, but your guests want to see you out there having fun.

I am not saying that you have to physically drag everyone and force them to dance.  We have seen when planners guide their couple to the dance floor, the guests start to dance.  When they see you having a great time and dancing, they want to come out on the dance floor too.

One more bonus:  Your photographer and videographer can capture some great memories because everyone is out there dancing and having a great time!  A special thanks to Gresham Photography for this wonderful pic.

Ashley + Jon: First UMC | The Club

Elegant.  I really think that is the perfect term to describe Ashley and Jon and their wedding.  The wedding ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church downtown under the direction of Jackie Gaut with Dana's Floral Design and Weddings.  So of course, the flowers were magnificent too!

A couple of surprises for in store for the bride and groom on their wedding day.  During the wedding ceremony, the groom pulled out a surprise 2nd wedding band for his bride.  Later that evening, during the magical reception in The Club's ballroom, a surprise fireworks show was held just outside.  Just breathtaking!

LaCour Photography out of Atlanta was great to work with!  And captured photos through out the dancing-filled night!  What a night!

Allyson + Tyler: Mathews Manor

Aly and Tyler were married on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Mathews Manor in Springville.  The bride arrived to Micah's Meadow by horse and carriage and she looked like a true princess!  After a flawless wedding ceremony, the guests relocated to Grace Hall for the reception.

One of the flower girls and the bearer for the wedding were very special to Main Street Productions.  They were the niece and nephew of the bride AND the son and daughter to one of our 2006 couples, Ashley and Brent.  Not only was it great to see those beautiful children, but getting to see a former couple is always great!

Feel the Beat played fun music that got everyone on the dance floor all afternoon! And Greg with Studio G captured all the great memories!

AliceAnne + Josh: Auburn, AL

AliceAnne and Josh's wedding was the most exquisite wedding I have ever seen!  From the sanctuary turned garden oasis at Auburn United Methodist Church to the beautifully decorated reception at Moore's Mill, every detail was perfect, thanks to wedding planner Beverly Andrews of Engaging Celebrations.

Design Productions provided amazing uplighting for the tents, Diane Olexa made the largest bride's cake EVER, and we got to work with Jamie Burnett (photographer) for the 1st time.  We are so very fortunate to get to do what we love!

Anna + Jeremy: Albertville, AL

Anna and Jeremy had a magical wedding day!  We had the pleasure of working with Alene Gamel with I Do, I Do (whom we always thank for referring us to her brides) and Monica Dooley (photographer) for this grand affair.  Flowers were provided by Lillies and they were gorgeous!

The day started with a beautiful ceremony at First Baptist Church in Albertville, AL.   The couple had a very fun and upbeat reception at the home of the bride's parents on the lake.  Great band, great food and delicious cakes!  I loved that the couple left on a boat from their wedding reception!  Hadn't seen that before!  So cool.  Thankfully we knew about this very dark area by the boathouse and brought additional lighting so that we could capture great footage AND not fall into the water!!!!

Jennifer + Chris: Rosewood

Jennifer and Chris shared their wedding day vows in a beautiful ceremony at Rosewood.  Rosewood is a perfect venue - it really is a well-oiled machine.  Renee and her staff and family put their heart and souls into every bride's wedding.

Insider's Tips: Tip #37 - The After Party

Years ago, we did our first wedding with an After Party.  The bride wanted a nice ceremony with the grandmother-approved reception.  She had lot of family and friends that wanted to wish she and her husband well and they got that. They visited with everyone, cut the cake and threw the garter.

Then the younger folks and the photographer and videographer jumped in our cars and went to a separate location for the After Party. I think it was at B & A Warehouse.  And that was really where the fun began!  They had karoke, snacks, and an open bar.  Definitely not grandmother approved, but it was what the bride wanted.  What a way to compromise.  And for the record, we actually delivered two versions of their video...

We have seen the After Party for many reasons - lots because of grandparents, but what about if you just can't afford to have an open bar for that many people or if you just don't want to invite that many people to your reception but because of family issues, you must.  Compromise.

The After party doesn't have to be 300 guests.  Invite who you want and think outside the box.
