#GivingTuesday - Compassion International

I was so excited to start this blog series highlighting Birmingham wedding professionals that I have found with these amazing, giving hearts. I want to surround myself with them.  I’ve loved researching and talking about their passions.  Each #GivingTuesday, I can’t wait to be able to post what I have found.  You guys all know, that I want everyday to be a “giving day” - why does it just have to be once a year.  You can read my previous post for that rant.  But for now….

Meet Allison Lewis. I want to be her BFF.  She is the kind of person that everyone wants to be around.  She makes you feel good about yourself.  And she is changing the world for the better.  Since 2012, every wedding client that has hired Allison Lewis Photography has actually had a portion of their fee donated to Compassion International on their behalf, specifically, the women and children of Sadamo Genet, Ethiopia. You should read her blog post about the two trips she and her husband, Josh, took during the adoption of their son, Micah.  Extraordinary.  But get this. To date, over $15,000 has been donated.   Wowzeers!!!!!  $15,000!!!! She tells me, "I love that my clients help serve in such an incredible and tangible way!!!!"

This week, Allison and her family will be welcoming a new addition to the Lewis clan.  Boy or girl, they don’t know. They don't know any details.  They just love the child and can’t wait for the birth mom to go into labor. As you would expect, there is a sweet story associated with this adoption, so be on the lookout for it in the coming weeks.  I’m sure it will be accompanied with a TON of pictures!  #SpreadKindness people. We are all capable, sometimes we (me too) just need to be reminded.  I love this family, especially their hearts.

You might remember the blog post earlier this year highlighting a sunrise ceremony for our couple.  Their January wedding reception was featured in B Metro Magazine, with beautiful photos from Allison Lewis Photography.

Beth and Jason | Hiking Ruffner Mountain to get married

It was an early, V E R Y early, November morning when one out-of-shape videographer (and a lovely assistant) climbed Ruffner Mountain to capture two love birds saying I do.  It was also V E R Y cold!!

When Beth and Jason first told me that they wanted to do a two-part wedding, I was intrigued.  We love our out of the box couples and this was definitely something unusual.  A sunrise ceremony with just their photographer (Allison Lewis Photography), us and a hand full of people. The reception would come later in January.  Perfect.

This video was shown at the January wedding reception so the guests could witness the couple exchanging their wedding vows. I love the organic feel to it.  I love how the couple shared hot coffee before starting the hike.  I hope you enjoy it too!

Celena & Brian | Rosewood

Sure we do a lot of weddings around here at Main Street Productions.  Some are romantic, some are fun, some are just crazy!  That was Celena and Brian's wedding.  They were both so relaxed and they loved the camera. It almost made the day easy!  Super wonderful and sweet Allison (plus Anna) with Allison Lewis Photography made the day even better!  And of course we always love to be at Rosewood with Renee and her staff.

We came across the clip while editing the video and died laughing.  A little background to set up the clip.  The wedding ceremony site at Rosewood is beautiful and I love to capture unique views with unmanned cameras.  It is customary at Rosewood that as soon as the ceremony ends, the couple goes straight to cut the cake.  So of course we follow quickly, not concerned about stopping the unmanned cameras.  Well it sometimes take a little bit to be able to get back out to collect your gear.  Apparently during our absence the mischievous groomsmen hijacked our camera and this is what we found.  Hilarious!!!  I love the 'stach...
