Blog Index

We have tried to design our blog for our fans, friends, and family to keep up with what we are doing each week.  It is also a good way to get to know us.  Or maybe just a way that I (Angela) can talk up a storm without John getting annoyed.  We will see...

Also included are the Insider's Tips, which started out as a challenge to post one tip per week for an entire year.  We hope that you will find that they are not just the normal information you find out there in wedding world, but more unusual tips that can only be found when you live on the inside.  Ha!  Really, we just attend a lot of weddings.

Insider's Tips: Tip #39 - Cake Timing

Thirty-nine out of 52 tips.  Wow.  No wonder I can't remember what the early tips were.  I do hate to repeat myself, but somethings are worth repeating.

Quick and easy:  The later in the wedding reception that you cut your cake, the less will be eaten.  Sure, a lot of the older crowd will leave once the cake is cut, so your crowd will thin out just a bit, but do you really want 5 layers of cake in your mom's freezer?  I think it depends on who made the cake......Yum.

Insider's Tips: Tip #32 - Pre-cut Cake.

I normally make it a policy to not put any tips that have been spotted at a wedding recently, but this one is actually from this past weekend.

The bride and groom chose not to see each other before the ceremony, so they had to take pictures while the guests went on to the reception.  This can sometimes make things a little rushed, but this couple had thought of that.

When the guests arrived at the wedding reception they were treated to the buffet of food and drinks.  This is standard - keeps them occupied and happy while you are finishing up pictures!  When the couple arrived on scene, they immediately cut the cake.  By this time the guests were ready for dessert, so it worked out nicely.

(HERE IS THE TIP!!!!)

The great thing was that as soon as they cut the cake for photos and video, the servers brought out already cut slices and handed them out to people, while another two servers starting cutting the actual cake.  It helped for there not to be a line of people waiting for wedding cake!  Brilliant!
