Blog Index

We have tried to design our blog for our fans, friends, and family to keep up with what we are doing each week.  It is also a good way to get to know us.  Or maybe just a way that I (Angela) can talk up a storm without John getting annoyed.  We will see...

Also included are the Insider's Tips, which started out as a challenge to post one tip per week for an entire year.  We hope that you will find that they are not just the normal information you find out there in wedding world, but more unusual tips that can only be found when you live on the inside.  Ha!  Really, we just attend a lot of weddings.

Abby + Holder: Brookwood Baptist/The Club

Abby and Holder were married at the always beautiful Brookwood Baptist Church. The difference at this wedding - the entire city of Mtn. Brook attended!!!  It was a packed house!  But Abby was gorgous and so happy and Holder looked very debonair.

We were fortunate to not only work with one of our AWEP/Photographer friends, Marsha Perry, but also Gretchen and Buddy Birdwell too!  We knew the day was going to be a blast!  And that the photos were going to be over the top!

After the wedding ceremony, the couple traveled to their reception at The Club.  It was stunning!  My oh my, the cake.  Wow!  Beautiful!  Really every part of the reception was beautiful!

Rachel + Patrick: Avondale Villa

Rachel and Patrick were one of those couples that oozed love.  So it is not surprising that the wedding day was so perfect!  Rachel had chosen one special friend to be in her wedding party and together with Rachel's mom, got ready at the beautiful Tutwiler Hotel.  It was a calm, relaxing wedding day.  (That is almost an oxymoron, huh???)

After a few photo sessions (with Marsha Perry Photography) around the hotel, everyone traveled to the wedding site, Avondale Villa.  This was our first time shooting there and I have to say, by far, one of the best venues!   There is just something about it.

The schedule from I Do, I Do Wedding Planning was padded in such a way that we had plenty of playtime with the couple.  (Which we love!)  After an intimate wedding ceremony, the couple enjoyed a perfect reception and a perfect honeymoon at Disney World!  I enjoyed living vicariously through all of the pictures on Facebook of their week-long adventures!

Virginia + Andy: We Won the Bet!

Miss Virginia came to us from a referral by her photographer, the wonderful Marsha Perry.  We love vendor referrals - they mean so much to us that other industry professionals value our work.  I think the best part about Virginia is her sweet smile - maybe because it matches her heart.  I don't know, but she is a girl that everyone likes instantly.  She and Andy were married on a very hot day in July at the First UMC Church in Tuscaloosa with their reception at The University Club.

Virginia only wanted us to film the ceremony, thinking that she would just care about the ceremony.  Well, we made a bet with her (after all we have talked with quite a few brides over the past seven years).  We are always approached by someone saying their biggest regret from their wedding was not hiring a videographer. It breaks my heart when I hear this.

So we decided that we would come film the ceremony like we contracted, but we would also film the reception (for free).  I told her that when she got back from her honeymoon, she could decide whether or not she wanted us to edit the reception.  If she wanted it, then she would just pay us the difference in what we charged her and our normal rate.  If she didn't, we would only be out our time for filming.

Approximately 35 minutes into the reception (right after she danced with her grandfather), Virginia came up to me and told me that she had to have the entire video.  This is the footage that helped us to win the bet.

Lacey + Tyler: Riverchase UMC/The Club

During the midst of our crazy, busy week, we were able to capture Lacey and Tyler on their wedding day!  After a full house ceremony at Riverchase UMC, the wedding guests made their way to The Club for dinner, drinks, and dancing!

We had a couple of connections to the bride and her family – 1) John knew the bride’s parents from Spain Park High School where they both were involved in the Football Coaches Show and 2) Lacey’s matron of honor was a former MSP bride!  We love to see familiar faces!  (Although it was probably 3 hours into the evening before things slowed down enough that I was even able to say hello to Natalie)

It had been a few years since we had been given the opportunity to work with Marsha Perry Photography.  We were excited to see her in action (instead of just at vendor meetings)!  All of us spent the evening chasing down the bride and groom and their guests  - making sure that we were capturing just the right moments.

The band did a great job of keeping everyone on the dance floor.  It was a party like no other!  Below is a small highlight clip that we provided to the bride and groom as their sneak peak!
