Blog Index

We have tried to design our blog for our fans, friends, and family to keep up with what we are doing each week.  It is also a good way to get to know us.  Or maybe just a way that I (Angela) can talk up a storm without John getting annoyed.  We will see...

Also included are the Insider's Tips, which started out as a challenge to post one tip per week for an entire year.  We hope that you will find that they are not just the normal information you find out there in wedding world, but more unusual tips that can only be found when you live on the inside.  Ha!  Really, we just attend a lot of weddings.

Tom + Susan: Riverchase UMC | Ted's Garage

This past weekend we were honored to be a part of the marriage of true love, originally set up by a Greek Matchmaker.  Alene Gamel with I Do, I Do Wedding Planning recommended us to this couple and we are so glad that she did.  We had so much fun all day!

These images were taken when Jerrod Brown, John and I kidnapped the couple for an excursion, much to the dismay of both the church director and Alene!!!  (The church was undergoing construction and we had to find a place to play!)  JB found the perfect place!!!  Imagine the emotion that we have in the video - can't wait!

Sure this was my most memorable part of the day, but there were so many facets to the wedding.  Beautiful ceremony, fun dancing at the reception.  Beautiful flowers by J Ross with Norton's. Delicious food by Kathy G. Yummy cake by Olexa's!  Az-Izz rockin' Ted's Garage.  James Meredith from Coats Classic Cars picking the couple up.

And the best thing, is that everything ran smoothly and to a self-proclaimed control freak bride, that made the day!  Go Alene!

Jenna + Mark: St. Mark | The Club

WOW. Wow. and wow.  This wedding was definitely something to write home about.  The ceremony was beautiful with a full mass and a beautiful sounding choir that filled the church with melody.  The Club (although very beautiful) had never looked better all thanks to Jill Sampson, with Weddings by Jill and lighting by AG Designs.

The entire event was under the careful instruction of Alene Gamel with I Do, I Do Weddings.  Alene is a perfectionist and perfection is what Jenna and Mark were given.

There are so many details that I could talk about.  Pink draping everywhere!  The 7 tiered (or more!)cake by Jan O'Donnell, delicious!  The many food stations.  The fireworks display that was out of this world!  And then an extra treat!  The guests came back in from outside and saw the newly formed cheesecake station!  Perfection, I am telling you.

And then you have the little details that most people might not see, but mean so much.  My favorite was the vintage broach on Jenna's bouquet.  It was her grandmother's.  What a special way to honor a loved one.

The band!  Hands down, the BEST!  The Atlanta Show Stoppers.  They were show stoppers!  I love the snapshot photo below of our couple dancing and singing on stage with the band.   Wonder what they are singing?  Never fear, we have the video that goes along with this picture.  They will be able to relive the day over and over!

I know that Greg Hawkins with Studio G captured some beautiful and fun photos!  His assistant for the day was Marsha Perry!  What a great team!

As I look back on my original notes from my meeting with Jenna.  Her vision was to have an inside garden with pinks and greens.  Well, this garden was fit for a queen!

Anna + Jeremy: Albertville, AL

Anna and Jeremy had a magical wedding day!  We had the pleasure of working with Alene Gamel with I Do, I Do (whom we always thank for referring us to her brides) and Monica Dooley (photographer) for this grand affair.  Flowers were provided by Lillies and they were gorgeous!

The day started with a beautiful ceremony at First Baptist Church in Albertville, AL.   The couple had a very fun and upbeat reception at the home of the bride's parents on the lake.  Great band, great food and delicious cakes!  I loved that the couple left on a boat from their wedding reception!  Hadn't seen that before!  So cool.  Thankfully we knew about this very dark area by the boathouse and brought additional lighting so that we could capture great footage AND not fall into the water!!!!

Rachel + Patrick: Avondale Villa

Rachel and Patrick were one of those couples that oozed love.  So it is not surprising that the wedding day was so perfect!  Rachel had chosen one special friend to be in her wedding party and together with Rachel's mom, got ready at the beautiful Tutwiler Hotel.  It was a calm, relaxing wedding day.  (That is almost an oxymoron, huh???)

After a few photo sessions (with Marsha Perry Photography) around the hotel, everyone traveled to the wedding site, Avondale Villa.  This was our first time shooting there and I have to say, by far, one of the best venues!   There is just something about it.

The schedule from I Do, I Do Wedding Planning was padded in such a way that we had plenty of playtime with the couple.  (Which we love!)  After an intimate wedding ceremony, the couple enjoyed a perfect reception and a perfect honeymoon at Disney World!  I enjoyed living vicariously through all of the pictures on Facebook of their week-long adventures!

Other wedding professionals:  Chris Amerson with Amerson Events, Scot Wedgworth for flowers, and Vintage Auto.

Rob & Michelle: Same Day Edit

In 2009, we met the most amazing family - the Forsythe's!  Molly was a bridesmaid for one of our weddings (Adrienne and Luke Remmert). Beautiful both inside and out.  When Molly got engaged, she immediately called us for her wedding and we of course, were very honored.  During her wedding festivities we met her sister Michelle.  A few months later when Michelle got engaged she called us too!  Sure an honor, but we also knew what amazing parties this family could throw and were very excited!

Michelle's wedding was going to be quite different than her sister so we wanted to do something different for her.  The Same Day Edit (SDE) is not something we do often, but we were excited to do it for Michelle.  A SDE is where you film the wedding day festivities up until a point and then you quickly edit together a piece to show at the reception.  It is very neat in that you (and your guests) can be able to see part of your wedding day even before you leave for the honeymoon!

In her hometown of Florence, Michelle and Rob were married in a small church that her grandmother attended.  It was just a cute, little country church.  After the ceremony, the guests traveled to Turtle Point Country Club for the reception.  They were met with beautiful music from a string quartet, a 12 tier bride's cake, and wonderful food from the club.  The short reception ended with the bride and groom exiting while Michelle was throwing the bouquet.

Great day, right?  Sure, but it was FAR from over!

We then hop the shuttle back to the hotel to begin the editing process.  Because of the uniqueness of the entire wedding, we actually had a couple of hours before the After Party (reception #2) started.  Alene Gamel and her team from I Do, I Do, had flawlessly coordinated the entire weekend of festivities.  We knew that the After Party was going to be something else!  (I am sure that Alene blogged about the wedding in detail so go read hers.  I just know it was beautiful!)

Old Hollywood was the theme with white furniture, pink lights everywhere and monograms galore! Gorgeous!  So after the cutting of groom's cake, the dances, and partying down from the most amazing band, we showed the SDE.  It was a huge hit and Michelle is still getting texts about it!  Check it out!

Due to the length of this video, please allow time to load the video so that you may have uninterrupted viewing.

Video from our Same Day Edit for Rob and Michelle on March 26, 2011. The video starts with the day beginning and ends with the 1st reception. The SDE was shown at the 2nd reception, aka The After Party!
