Blog Index

We have tried to design our blog for our fans, friends, and family to keep up with what we are doing each week.  It is also a good way to get to know us.  Or maybe just a way that I (Angela) can talk up a storm without John getting annoyed.  We will see...

Also included are the Insider's Tips, which started out as a challenge to post one tip per week for an entire year.  We hope that you will find that they are not just the normal information you find out there in wedding world, but more unusual tips that can only be found when you live on the inside.  Ha!  Really, we just attend a lot of weddings.

Meredith + Dale: The Sonnet House

You might recall last July for our anniversary trip, John hired the most amazing and beautiful makeup artist, Meredith Brown.  Well, Meredith is not only our friend now, but she first was our bride.

We were excited about the wedding day for many reasons, but mainly because we were able to be a little out of the box.  We shot the entire day with our 1970s Super 8mm camera.  I can't wait to see how the footage turned out.  The film must be sent off to a lab for processing.  Now don't worry, we shot the ceremony with "real" video cameras too, just in case the 30 year old film missed a beat.

She and Dale had a beautiful wedding at The Sonnet House.  The food was great, flowers were beautiful, it was just a perfect day!

Planner: Molly Shook.  Photographer:  David Shirk with Unplugged Photography. Flowers: Carol Riley with Lillie's.  Catering: Kathy G. Cake: Dreamcakes.  Hair and Makeup: Jessica Lazarus and Kerri Bunn. Ceremony Music: Cahaba River Strings.

Great times!

Chelsea + Shane: The Tutwiler

Chelsea and Shane were married on the lawn of the beautiful Tutwiler hotel, right next to the street.  Way cool!  It made for a fabulous setting for their ceremony.  And guests were invited into the hotel for the reception - so the couple got the best of both worlds!

And speaking of the best, David Shirk with Unplugged Photography was there to capture all of the special moments.  I have seen the pictures and they look great!  I can't wait to show Chelsea and Shane the great footage that we captured too! Watch the groom's expression in this clip!

Mandy + Brandon: The Sonnet House

It's that time of year again - beautiful Spring weddings!  We are so fortunate that we get to do what we really love to do.  A wedding day is such a special time!  We love when we are contracted to film for the entire day.  That allows us to be able to capture when the bride and groom seeing each other and the photo session that comes directly after (and if you know anything about me, you know that this is my absolute FAVORITE time).  I believe the new, hip term is a Bridal Elegance video.

With all of that said, here is our latest sneak peak taken directly from that moment.  We shadowed David Shirk with Unplugged Photography for the day - both of us were extremely happy with what we captured.  David is so fun to work with, so animated, he really puts the couple at ease while in front of the camera.  And his pictures are "wicked awesome", a term he would use!!!

It really turned out to be a beautiful day, a little windy, but beautiful!  We worked with M. Elizabeth again as the wedding planner and Carlos with Total Entertainment kept everyone on the dance floor!

Morgan & Jeremy: St Mark United Methodist Church/B & A Warehouse

Morgan and Jeremy had a beautiful ceremony at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Vestavia.  And let me tell you, Morgan looked beautiful!  I absolutely loved her dress!!!! Their reception was held downtown at B & A Warehouse, where their many guests all had a wonderful time mingling and listening to the band.  Joe Breckenridge and his band was not our "typical" band that we have seen recently - he was a little more bluegrass, but he had a nice mix of blues and traditional music.  It kept everyone dancing!  Here is a link to some of the fun footage that we captured during one of the songs.  This groomsmen was quite a dancer!!!
