Blog Index

We have tried to design our blog for our fans, friends, and family to keep up with what we are doing each week.  It is also a good way to get to know us.  Or maybe just a way that I (Angela) can talk up a storm without John getting annoyed.  We will see...

Also included are the Insider's Tips, which started out as a challenge to post one tip per week for an entire year.  We hope that you will find that they are not just the normal information you find out there in wedding world, but more unusual tips that can only be found when you live on the inside.  Ha!  Really, we just attend a lot of weddings.

Bill + Ali: Canterbury | Vestavia Country Club

Earlier this year we were approached by a romantic gentleman who wanted a unique way to proposal to his sweet girlfriend on Valentine's Day at the Alabama Theatre. John created the ultimate romantic movie, ending with Bill telling Ali how much he loved her and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.  This was all shown on the big screen at the Theatre and when it was over, Bill was on one knee with her ring. It was beautiful!  And the best part, she said YES!

So fast forward several months to a beautiful day in September.  Bill and Ali's wedding day.  Held at the always lovely Canterbury United Methodist Church, the ceremony was so touching - one I will never forget.  The guests danced the night away at the Vestavia Hills Country Club.  We had a hidden camera at the reception (this is not unusual), but when it was discovered, the bridal party had a great time dancing for it!  I might even have a shot of the groom bending down and kissing it!  Wow!  That is a MUST shot in the final video!!!!

Here are a few stills taken from the wedding day.  I loved combing through the footage.

Please take a look at Ann Wade's images from the day. Fabulous photographer!!!  Here is her blog post.

Claire + Josh: Canterbury & Old Overton CC

The most organized bride to date.  I even had my timeline two weeks before the wedding!  I couldn't believe it!  Claire had planned every last detail of her wedding day and kept everyone on top of things throughout the day.  From the bridal party getting ready at Canterbury United Methodist Church to leaving on the favorite mode of transportation for the groom, the day was flawless.  The groomsmen were even dressed and ready ONE HOUR before they really needed to be for photos.  WOW!  Brides, we might can get a copy of the email that Claire sent out to all of the groomsmen because something she said worked because they were not only on time, but also WAY early!

We got an amazing shot of the bride walking down the aisle to her groom during the wedding ceremony.  This task is sometimes hard to do at strict churches, but we got it!!!  Beautiful, heartfelt ceremony.  The reception was quite a party, including a performance of "Proud Mary" from the bride's mom and band!

The perfect day ended with sparklers and the couple riding off in a golf cart (something that we had not seen before) from their wedding reception!

Jim & LeeAnn: Canterbury UMC | Vestavia Hills Country Club

What a difference a week makes!  No rain, beautiful clouds, great day!  Jim and LeeAnn picked a beautiful March day to be married in an elegant black tie affair at Canterbury United Methodist Church.  We were delighted to work aside Brandon and Stacy Gresham of Gresham Photography.  Their images always look incredible.

Guests walked into the Vestavia Hills Country Club to romantic lanterns hung from everywhere they could be!  Rustic and old English!  I was right behind an excited LeeAnn when the club allowed her to sneak a peak of the ballroom before whisking the couple away for dinner.  Nationwide Coverage started the evening playing like they were a lounge jazz dinner ensemble.  Very classy.  I had not seen this side of them and was very impressed! Of course as the evening progressed, their energy level only increased and kept the guests on the dance floor for the entire (exhausting) night!!!   Nationwide Coverage entertained like no one else could have!!! (I have free demos if you are still looking for a band)

It was a night to remember for all involved!  I can't wait to see the edited footage!

Ashley + Thomas: Canterbury UMC

One of my favorite couples - both so sweet and kind, beautiful too!  After a romantic ceremony at Canterbury UMC, the couple hosted a short reception at the church.  There, many friends, family and church family gathered to give their well wishes to the couple.  A much smaller and intimate gathering occured at the bride's sister's house directly after the church reception.

After an amazing dinner, complete with a fantastic desert, everyone pilled under the outside tent to listen and dance to the band.  I loved all of the little details that we present throughout the day.  My favorite:  Old fashion soda bottles served in large metal tubs.

It was a perfect evening!  I was surprised to find out that Erin Nolen (photographer) was 6 months pregnant!  Congrats to she and Corey!

Johnson-Wearren

Congrats to Natalie & Scott!  After a rehearsal dinner at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, the couple was married in a beautiful ceremony at Canterbury, and partied the night away at the Botanical Gardens.  The rehearsal dinner was filled with friends and family toasting the new couple and making a few wise cracks at Natalie and Scott! Enjoy the attached footage of their cake cutting piece that we uploaded for them on their honeymoon.  Now on to edit the real thing!
