Blog Index

We have tried to design our blog for our fans, friends, and family to keep up with what we are doing each week.  It is also a good way to get to know us.  Or maybe just a way that I (Angela) can talk up a storm without John getting annoyed.  We will see...

Also included are the Insider's Tips, which started out as a challenge to post one tip per week for an entire year.  We hope that you will find that they are not just the normal information you find out there in wedding world, but more unusual tips that can only be found when you live on the inside.  Ha!  Really, we just attend a lot of weddings.

Alabama Weddings Photo Shoot!

Several times a year wedding vendors work together to provide inspiration to all brides through photo shoots for Alabama Weddings Magazine.  It usually consists of a pretty long day, but the results are worth it! Our contribution was to film the setup of the different "scenes" plus a little bit of clowning around of the vendors.  The location was a bit unusual, but Ted's Garage Cafe turned out to be perfect for the day.  It was really fun!

Although the edit of the video is not completed just yet, I wanted to say thanks to all of the contributing vendors!

Awesome (and amazing!) photography by Jerrod Brown.

Floral and design by J Ross with Norton's.

Lighting design by Andy Tolar with Design Productions.

Makeup by Melissa Moore Bogardus.

Thanks for including us Michelle and Carla!

Emily + Eddie: The Prince of Peace/Harbert Center

I love fun brides!  Brides that are ready for their wedding day - they are excited and just living in the moment!  That was sweet Emily!  She was surrounded by great friends and family that just added to the excitement of the day.

After a beautiful ceremony at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, the bridal party hopped on a party bus (Avia Transportation) to the Harbert Center.  The DJ had the guests on the dance floor all night!  We captured great footage - so much fun!!  We had a wonderful time working with Lauren Liddell out of Mississippi.  She made all of the wedding party so relaxed for the pictures.  I know they looked great!

The couple left their reception on a cute Golf Cart and headed to the Tutwiler for the evening.  I hope they had an amazing honeymoon!

Whitney + Billy: Reid Chapel & VHCC

This past Saturday we worked some of our favorite vendors to create a beautiful day for Whitney and Billy.  Anita Kanellis with AK Brides planned Whitney's wedding of her dreams.  Lighting was provided by Andy Tolar with Design Productions, making Vestavia Hills Country Club a beautiful shade of pink!  A couple of weeks ago, we did a photo shoot with Southern Bride Magazine where Rob Ingram was the photographer.  It was nice seeing him again at the wedding.  Another friend, Laura Eason had the very large task of doing makeup Whitney, her mom, and all of the bridemaids! Everyone looked beautiful!  Amazing band, Az-Izz, had everyone dancing so much that no one wanted to leave!  The day couldn't have been more perfect!

Ashley + Thomas: Canterbury UMC

One of my favorite couples - both so sweet and kind, beautiful too!  After a romantic ceremony at Canterbury UMC, the couple hosted a short reception at the church.  There, many friends, family and church family gathered to give their well wishes to the couple.  A much smaller and intimate gathering occured at the bride's sister's house directly after the church reception.

After an amazing dinner, complete with a fantastic desert, everyone pilled under the outside tent to listen and dance to the band.  I loved all of the little details that we present throughout the day.  My favorite:  Old fashion soda bottles served in large metal tubs.

It was a perfect evening!  I was surprised to find out that Erin Nolen (photographer) was 6 months pregnant!  Congrats to she and Corey!

Melissa + TJ: The Sonnet House

Once again, we find ourselves at the beautiful Sonnet House.  This time is it early Sunday morning.  John and I were married 10 years ago in the morning and I still LOVE the idea.   It was a little chilly to start, but the day was grand!

Hands down, BEST.DRESS.EVER!  Sorry to my other brides, but I really loved Melissa's short wedding dress!  It was perfect for her.  She even had pockets to keep her lipstick!  Kudos to the White Room, they hit it out of the park on this one.  She looked gorgeous and a little sassy!

After the ceremony, Melissa and TJ shared mimosas with their guests, while Iz Catering served brunch!  Naturally they would cater the wedding as they are family and Melissa's workplace!  You can't go wrong with Iz (anything and everything)! They also have a great venue that is perfect for rehearsal dinners and receptions.

Mark Parker was the photographer that morning.  Our paths had crossed several times before, but we never had the opportunity to work a wedding together.  He was gracious to let us shadow him during the pre-wedding pictures.
